To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the American Eagle Silver Coin Program, the United States Mint is proud to present this unique limited-edition set of three one-ounce American Eagle Silver Coins. This magnificent 3-coin set features a Proof Silver Eagle, an Uncirculated Silver Eagle and a Special Edition Reverse Proof Silver Eagle, the first of its type to be issued by the US Mint. Normally, proof-quality coins have frosted devices with brilliant polished backgrounds. The 2006 Silver Eagle Reverse Proof coin feature brilliant devices, and frosted fields in the background. This special "20th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set" was struck in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Bullion Coinage Program, and is an exceptional addition to any collection.
The obverse design of each coin features the Adolph A. Weinman Liberty Walking design, with the inscription "Liberty" and "In God We Trust". The reverse design of each is a rendition of a heraldic eagle by John Mercanti, surrounded by a triangular field of thirteen stars, and the inscriptions "United States of America," and "1 oz. Fine Silver—one Dollar."
This unique 3-coin set is presented in a museum-quality case, lined with black velvet, and with a silver-colored box and sleeve with gold lettering over the black presentation case. The Proof and Uncirculated coins were struck at the West Point Mint and the Reverse Proof coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
