Joe Thornton was the first overall pick in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft and played for the Boston Bruins through the 2005-2006 season, serving as team captain from 2002-2005. The gifted center was traded to the San Jose Sharks prior to the 2006 season and hopes to lead the San Jose Sharks to their first Stanley Cup Championship. Thornton won the Art Ross Trophy (leading scorer) and Hart Trophy (MVP) in 2006 and led all Western Conference players in votes for the 2007 NHL All-Star Game.
