Miguel Tejada came highly recommended: he was discovered and signed in 1993 -- at age 17 -- by Hall of Famer Juan Marichal, then a scout for the A's. He spent seven seasons with the A's and in 2002, his last season with Oakland, he stroked 204 hits, with 30 doubles, 34 homers and 131 RBI, earning the AL Most Valuable Player Award in the process. He joined the Baltimore Orioles in 2004 and has not disappointed, playing in all 162 games in both 2004 and 2005, bashing a combined 60 home runs and topping the .300 mark each year.
